1 in 3 Massachusetts households reports experiencing food insecurity. The Fitchburg Food Initiative strives to combat this by empowering our community and addressing the rising food costs at the center of this challenge. Our initiative takes a proactive approach by advocating for policy changes and fostering collaboration to find sustainable solutions. In partnership with community members, local organizations, and experts, we will evaluate innovative models, including cooperatives, mobile markets, wholesaling, and access points, to address gaps in the city’s food economy. We aim to support both working-class and food-insecure families by addressing the root causes of hunger and promoting access to affordable, nutritious food options.
